Cambium Layer
$88.00
Giclee print with gouache and iridescent hand painted additions.
Inspired by a meeting with a grief counselor who knew I loved redwoods and said "you should look into how they deal with fire." A redwood can completely burn out, so that it's just really a tube, the entire center of the tree turned to ash, and the tree will think "np." The life of the tree is in the cambium layer, a thin layer of cells making the inside and the outside of the tree at the same time. That's what needs to be protected and what can't get damaged. Just that. A powerful metaphor of strength and perseverance and all the wonders hiding out nearby.
10% of proceeds will be donated to Hospice of Santa Cruz County.
